The U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services have released the 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. First introduced in 1980 and revised every five years, the Dietary Guidelines are recommendations for all Americans and are used to shape public health programs and federally funded feeding programs, including school meals, meals on wheels for older adults, military and veteran food services, and nutrition assistance programs for women, infants and children (WIC).They are intended to reflect the best available scientific evidence on dietary patterns and health. Some of the key elements of this latest document do that, but experts are questioning others.
