Adapted Performing Arts Design in the social integration and understanding of people with deafness, blindness, and deaf blindness. A systematic review

The present study focuses on deaf blindness, a combined condition of hearing and visual impairments that has received little global attention; earlier, the main objective is to review the accessibility of deaf, blind, and deafblind people to the performing arts. Sixty-three studies were analyzed and categorized according to the selection criteria: Inclusion, Movement, Deafness, Blindness, Accessibility, and Performing Arts Education. According to the study, it is observed that there are not many publications concerning specific content. About 50% adopt a qualitative approach, with an emphasis on accessibility. There is therefore a lack and consequently a need for more research on design proposals in the arts to improve adaptations for people with deaf blindness.
