Although his fate seemed to have been decided for much of the season, Rhaenyra discovers that her half-brother is still alive and that Sunfyre survived as well. The dragon had been seen after attacking the Mooton army at Rook’s Rest, but later disappeared. For Rhaenyra, the news means that a direct threat to her position still remains.
The queen responds by taking a harder line. Rather than trying to regain control through negotiations, she decides to turn the conflict into a show of force. Daemon is ordered to continue the assault on Tumbleton and eliminate the Hightowers. Rhaenyra also remains determined to kill Aegon herself.

The conflict at Tumbleton ultimately becomes one of the episode’s most violent events. Ulf the White joins the battle after being forced to leave a tavern, but his behavior triggers another confrontation when he orders Silverwing to attack Ormund. The presence of the dragons once again changes the course of the battle and leaves consequences that remain unresolved.
Amid the chaos, Daeron decides to fight alongside his men. Gwayne attempts to stop the confrontation with a proposal that would free Corlys and divide the realm between Rhaenyra and Daeron. Daemon rejects the possibility of an agreement, and the battle continues.
Helaena’s situation also takes a decisive turn. Before her death, Mysaria manages to warn her that Aegon is alive and that she should not trust Rhaenyra. Helaena becomes increasingly suspicious of the queen, particularly after Rhaenyra’s men restrain her and force her to eat.
Shortly afterward, Helaena attempts to escape amid the chaos caused by the battle. Her escape ends in tragedy when she falls from a window and is impaled on spikes. Her death connects with the visions she had experienced earlier and adds another pivotal death to the conflict.
In Harrenhal, the story of Alys Rivers takes on a new dimension. She explains to Aemond the origins of an ancient curse connected to Harrenhal and the experiments carried out in an attempt to save a survivor scarred by dragonfire. Aemond’s reaction suggests that Alys could be the same woman from the story.
Aegon’s return once again shifts the balance between the brothers. Aemond finds him alive and acknowledges that he tried to kill him. However, Aegon makes it clear that forgiveness will come with one condition: defeating Rhaenyra and reclaiming the throne.
The ending once again puts Rhaenyra at the center of the conflict. After learning about Helaena’s death, she finds a piece of embroidery depicting her death and another image showing Rhaenyra sitting on the Iron Throne covered in blood. The queen looks at the prophecy, closes the window, and continues with her plans. With the main factions still at war, the third season ends without resolving the conflict and sets the stage for its fourth and final installment.
