What Happened in the First Season of The Hunting Wives?

The first season of The Hunting Wives follows Sophie O’Neil, a woman who moves with her family to a small town in Texas and ends up caught up in a world of secrets, forbidden relationships, and murder suspicions. What begins as an attempt to adapt to her new life turns into a series of events that put her marriage, her reputation, and her freedom at risk.

Sophie, played by Brittany Snow, meets Margo Banks (Malin Åkerman), an influential woman who introduces her to an exclusive group of wealthy wives. Fascinated by their lifestyle, Sophie grows closer to Margo, and the relationship between them takes on an intimate dimension that complicates their personal lives.

Things take a turn when Abby Jackson, a teenager romantically involved with Brad, Jill’s son, turns up murdered. Sophie comes under suspicion when her gun is linked to the crime. From that point on, the investigation exposes the rivalries, infidelities, and secrets that had remained hidden behind the community’s apparent perfection.

While Sophie tries to clear her name, she also discovers that Pastor Pete is hiding criminal behavior. The preacher ends up involved in the disappearance of two young people, and his story comes to an end when the police try to arrest him.

The investigation into Abby’s murder seems to be resolved when Jill dies at the hands of Callie and the authorities hold her responsible for the crime. However, Sophie finds a clue that contradicts that version: she discovers that Margo had an abortion after getting pregnant by Brad. When she confronts her, Margo admits that she killed Abby to keep her from revealing their relationship and destroying her social standing.

The ending brings another twist when Kyle, Margo’s brother, threatens Sophie. She runs him over and hides his body instead of going to the police. As a result, the protagonist ends up involved in another crime while Margo remains free. The first season concludes with both women trapped in a dangerous situation, bound together by secrets that could destroy them. Although Abby’s case is officially closed, the truth remains hidden, and Sophie must face the consequences of her decisions.
