Burden and determinants of anaemia among in‐school young adolescents in Ethiopia, Sudan and Tanzania

– We found a substantial burden of anaemia among urban in-school young adolescents in Ethiopia, Sudan and Tanzania. – The prevalence and adjusted risk of anaemia were higher among boys compared with girls. – Anaemia risk among young adolescents was associated with multiple modifiable indices, including poor diet quality, food insecurity and unavailability of school handwashing stations.
